A person may feel they’re the only one who self harms and those close to you may not understand. Research shows that telling someone and sharing yout experiences can help recovery. Below are some usefull things to bear in mind if you do decide to tell someone
Choose somone you feel comfortable with. Could be friend, family member, GP and or emotional support line
Think about what your gonna say before you begin. It will help if you know what to say and how you want to say it. Only tell info your comfortable with as who you tell may ask questions.
Choose a time that is suitable for you both, when your both not busy. Pick a place you both feel safe and comfortable with
Who you tell may struggle to understand. Be patient and try to help them understand
